Lesson From Iceland
I’ve always liked Icelanders, partly because they believe in elves. Any nation whose imagination will embrace a belief in elves has got to be a good place to unwind.
But the ability to believe in elves comes with a dark side; it also allows you to believe that cleverness is all it takes to make money.
*Ann H. Waigand reports that 54% of Icelanders believe in elves and a full 90% of the population “takes notice” of the existence of hidden people – elves, gnomes, faeries and trolls – a population said to number anywhere from 7000 to 20,000 inhabitants.
