The Monday Morning Memo

Did you watch that MC Hammer video like I told you earlier?

This is 35 year-old South Korean rapper Psy (really Park Jae-Sang.)

The video has gathered more than 450,000,000 views on YouTube.
The song is currently Number One in 33 countries.

Gangnam Style refers to South Korea’s Gangnam District, home to the country’s wealthiest citizens and where Psy grew up. Gangnam is supposedly Silicon Valley, Wall Street, Miami Beach and Beverley Hills all rolled into one. Psy’s music satarizes the shallow lifestyle of Gangnam residents.

Psy attended Boston University and the prestigious Berklee College of Music in the US. He has twin girls, 4 years old.

The lyrics translate to: “I’m a guy – a guy who seems calm but plays when he plays, a guy who goes completely crazy when the right time comes, a guy who has bulging ideas rather than muscles, That kind of guy.”

This Busan native does a credible job of imitating the video.

“

Big ideas. Now that’s what the advertising business is really all about. The beginning of greatness is to be different, and the beginning of failure is to be orthodox. You cannot bore people into buying your product. You can only interest them in buying it. Unless your advertising has a big idea. It will pass like a ship in the night.
