The Monday Morning Memo

We can’t have a real discussion about education in America
until you have seen The Breakfast Club and Ferris Beuller’s Day Off.
The scene below (from Ferris Beuller,) ends with Cameron looking
deeply into a painting by Georges Seurat called, “Sunday Afternoon
on the Island of La Grande Jatte
.” Here’s what director John Hughes
said about that scene when asked out it later.

“The closer he looks at the child, the less he sees. But the more he
looks, there’s nothing there. I think he fears that the more you look at
him the less you see. There isn’t anything there. That’s him.”
