The Monday Morning Memo

You twist the key on the music box
to hear a melody play clean and sweet
while the sad
ballerina spins. Can you think
of
a better way to begin a song about your mom?

You’ll hear tight pain in this rap until 1:05
when he begins to wail an anthem
of reminiscences in rich harmony.

Hear Angel Eyes

When you click this link a new page will open and the song will play. If you leave that
new page open, you can come back to this one and read the lyrics. It’s worth the trouble.

If you have
a word of encouragement for my man, Dave,
shout it out to him at texastags@gmail.com

Here’s the email he sent to Pennie when she asked to hear his music:

From: texastags@gmail.com
Date: July 17, 2013 3:59:57 PM CDT
To: Pennie Williams
Subject: songs

Pennie,

Only two people have heard these songs, and that’s my significant other and her brother. I openly welcome any critique good or bad, and hope you’ll enjoy my art. Thank you and Roy again for the interest, it means the world to me and I’m humbled.

If the Dark Shall Come has many hidden messages in the wordings I choose, as well as the double entendres. For instance in the chorus I say the word “Night” but actually mean both “Night, and Knight” as in the knights of the darkness. I do say the “f” word and I hope not to offend you as well as the “b” word, but I am not at all using it in a derogatory sense about women. If these words will offend you, you don’t have to listen to the song, but I believe they help express the feeling in the setting. This song also features me on the saxophone performing a solo. I make my own beats, write my own lyrics, record mix and master all by myself. I hope you enjoy and even if you don’t enjoy, I thank you for listening to my art.

“Angel Eyes”
©LOS – David Neubert

My Mamma had a stroke the other day,
I Can’t describe the Hyde released from hiding-
Supplying pain that’s deriving from my mind diving
And I can’t survive dying
Constantly crying
Prying stiff fingers from my eyes drying
Minding to the code when it comes to flying
But God,
Damn it Why’s it got to be happening this way?
It seems dirty work can’t get clean
Craft the dream in peace may she piece the tree
Back in place for we to see to breed the leaf
To teach the seed
Love unconditionally to me received
was more than I could ever explain to thee
When things went wrong I wasn’t blaming she
The only one Forever, Nuff Said
The blood-derrick pumping through my chest
I’ll take it that I’m blessed but I’m way too stressed
Don’t take the one thing from me that’s best!
Skip the test we don’t need the rest,
All we need is a little “Jesus Breath”
Hear this throughout the broad requests
Your healing touch is requisite
And a deficit if he derelict to hold on like thou cannot grip
Heaven sent was the woman lent
My Mamma Held it down every pitch

My Angel Eyes that set me free,
Mamma, Speaking these words
till you Breeze on my face in my memory.
My Angel Eyes, don’t relinquish me.
Mamma, You’re the missing link in my unchained melody.

Dear mamma, you helped me live the dream
The most unselfish woman I’ve ever seen
Constantly put the weight of the boulders up on your shoulder
Problems you can bowl them over
Always would hold me closer
The Poster child for the world to be
Greatest influence in my life and that ain’t hard to see
Them Angel eyes get me every time like it’s a surprise that you gave me life
Wish I could pay you back twice for the price,
But I can’t get the chance
Believe I remember every dance
A son’s Romance for his mamma’s glance
at tentative stance
I’m in awe of you and in the hardest times of our lives
I still see no flaws in you
I got the jaws and the heart of you
Wish I was half as smart but I’m a play my part
Like you want and do my best and
I’ll let God deal the card
I love you till the death
You’re the skipping beat up in my chest
My miracle healer Angel Eyed Mamma blessed
be when thy rest

My Angel Eyes that set me free,
Mamma, Speaking these words
till you Breeze on my face in my memory.
My Angel Eyes, don’t relinquish me.
Mamma, You’re the missing link in my unchained melody.

I ain’t ready to make the switch
For this and that mercy my soul I can’t take it no more
Losing everything before I can grab a cam to pic’ the hold
I Wish there was a way,
but words just cannot say
Knees buckle I pray lord help this dragon slayer
Seize that pair release the glare for my despair
N let me leave it there,
Teared into me too many times
please spare my mind
My mamma remember the night I broke the lion
I wanna hear you tell me just one more time that
Roar was the line;
I used to break them cigarettes,
And I tried not to disrespect
and if I did you’d disinfect my mouth
Then I’d pout
Then you’d tear up and you’d hug me
Tell me you love me
say it Hurts you more to do it than it does me when you bust me
I’ll chalk it up best like your name is on my chest held high
you’re gods given gifted blessing from heaven, no lie,
My Mamma
I love you more than life in its own prize
I need you and can’t survive my beauty,
without your angel eyes

My Angel Eyes that set me free,
Mamma, Speaking these words
till you Breeze on my face in my memory.
My Angel Eyes, don’t relinquish me.
Mamma, You’re the missing link in my unchained melody.
