The Monday Morning Memo

Beagle_Osbscure_Goss2012Yeah, I know. His name was Hoss, not Goss.

If you want to get really fussy about it, his actual name on the show was Eric.
“Hoss” was only his nickname. His name for real was Dan Blocker. He died in 1972.

This whole Goss/Hoss thing was an afterthought anyway.

What I heard when I tasted this Australian Cabernet
was the theme music from Bonanza, loud and clear.
Hard-charging and heroic, ridin’ on horseback and shootin’ at the bad guys.
It was only after I heard the music in my head that I thought of Hoss Cartwright.

You need you to ignore the fact that this bottle says 2011 McLaren Vale Shiraz
since what I actually tasted was the 2012 McLaren Vale Cabernet.
Other than that, the labels look the same.

You know how it is. I wanted to download a photo instead of taking my own and
I couldn’t find a photo of the 2012 Cab so I decided I’d rather explain the discrepancy
than fool around with trying to get the focus just right.

Random Quote:

“The elite one percent of Americans control $30 trillion of assets, while the bottom half have more debt than assets. The three richest Americans have more money than the poorest 160 million of their countrymen. Fully a fifth of American households have zero or negative net worth, a figure that rises to 37 percent for black families. The median wealth of black households is a tenth that of whites. The vast majority of Americans — white, black, and brown — are two paychecks removed from bankruptcy. Though living in a nation that celebrates itself as the wealthiest in history, most Americans live on a high wire, with no safety net to brace a fall.”
