The Monday Morning Memo

of this page before you continue reading.

Last week I reviewed a wine that wasn’t
obscure and I apologized for it.
Sort of.

Anyway, this week I’m bringing the scales back into  balance by reviewing a wine that even the most OSBCURE wines would call obscure. This wine is so far-flung that I couldn’t even find an image of the wine label online that was printed in English (it’s usually in Hebrew,) so I had to photograph my own empty bottle.

Empty. That’s right, uh-huh. You heard me. I sat down and lapped up the whole bottle. Soft and smooth. Sort of expensive, but definitely soft and smooth. And like all wines from Galilee, the lack of edginess means no stuffy head afterwards, no dehydrated hangover, no regrets.

They call it ASSEMBLAGE because they assemble it from Cabernet Sauvignon (67%) with Merlot (20%) and Shiraz (13%). The three vineyards from whence come the grapes – (did my use of the word “whence” impress you? Did it?) – are near each other, but the soil is different at each place on Mount Reichan.

Find this wine if you can. Share it if you’re willing.
