Monday Morning Memo

Positive Memory Recall

July 22, 1971

Positive Memory Recall

I write these words in the wee morning hours of a winter's day, January 10, 2007. Few people will ever read them as they'll be buried deep in the archives of the Monday Morning Memo.

12 years old, I sit in an inner tube, James Greenlee floating next to me, my mother shepherding a yellow raft behind me. It's the summer of 1971.

Two days ago I published a memo about Creating a Different Future. It seems a lot of people liked it, needed to hear it, were glad I wrote it.

I always become reflective in the autumn, quiet in the winter.
Snow is not for winter sports, it's to muffle the noise of life.

Summer is for lying in inner tubes in river canyons in the idyllic state of one's youth.

Six years later, James would stand as best man in my wedding to Princess Pennie.

Do you have old photos?
Dig them out.
Find the happy ones.
Remember that person is you.
