The Monday Morning Memo

Banner_Goals_780

To be displayed in The Room of the Unknown Lost Boy in Wizard Academy’s House of the Lost Boys, these three photos were taken by Campus Chronicler Speedy Peacock on a single day in Austin during the Vietnam War. (L to R) (1.) LBJ, President of the United States – (2.) An unnamed girl in Zilker Park – (3.) General William Westmoreland, commander of U.S. forces in Vietnam from 1964 to 1968.  According to Biography.com, “Westmoreland was initially a popular figure, becoming a full four-star general and being named TIME magazine’s “Man of the Year” in 1965, but the bitter legacy of his role in the war haunted him, as the number of U.S. troops engaged grew from less than 20,000 to approximately 500,000, and victory was elusive. He died in South Carolina in 2005.”  Click the image to see it bigger.
