The Monday Morning Memo

“Maybe you have to be a grandparent to realize how neat kids are. Sometimes they’re bundles of energy gift-wrapped in hand-me-downs. Other times they’re pajamaed packages of sleepy sweetness. Always they’re a miracle. I love the way they chase butterflies, and I love the attention they give to mud puddles and raindrops on a window. I envy their freedom from clocks and calendars, their immunity to pressure. Oh, they have their moments, skinned knees and nap time, but they recover quickly. They don’t nurse their disappointments or make a career out of suffering.”

“

American Modern artist Georgia O’Keeffe is well known for her large scale cropped flower paintings and cityscapes. She believed art had the ability to evoke emotion in the same fashion that music did. She was occupied with the idea ‘that music could be translated into something for the eye.’ This led to the creation of several abstract works inspired by music including: Music, Pink and Blue No. 2 1918, and Blue and Green Music 1919-1921.
