Arise! Angel Waking the Wise Men

An original oil by the late Ruth Laakso

I bought this original
(16 x 20) for the new library tower at Wizard Academy.

Notice how Ruth Laakso treats the wise men as a single entity. Interestingly, this is exactly how they're treated in the Christmas narrative of Matthew chapter 2.
Another interesting anomaly is the appearance of the angel since the Bible records no angelic visit to the wise men.

The wizards knew the meaning of the star. It was the shepherds “abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night,” who heard the heavenly host. (Luke chapter 2)

“Angel” means “messenger of God.” I like to think Ruth Laakso intended us to recognize the angel in this painting as beautiful Intuition since she's also, occasionally, God's messenger.

My plan is to commission a limited edition print of this rich painting. I'll let you know when they're available and how you can receive one.

“Any strong belief leads to thinking that anyone who believes differently from you is mistaken. This is unavoidable, but dangerous, and should be monitored by the very best that is within you.”
