The Monday Morning Memo

More About the Seductive,
Musical Properties of Meter:

“…a tool for attracting women,
just as he had once charmed female parishioners
with a schoolboy church sermon.
The trick: 'Establish a cadence, stretch it,
vary it, return to it later in full force,
and try not to think the words.
That was the secret, I discovered.
The words were interchangeable. . .
their potency lay not in their meanings
but in the patterns they cut into the air.'”

Wall Street Journal,

Notice how the audience
instinctively joins into the song and starts clapping.
The animals, by the way, are really just puppets controlled by humans.
But you already knew that, right?
This is one of those songs whose rhythm “cuts patterns into the air.”
As the song progresses, notice the signature gap in our singer's teeth.  You'll understand why I asked you to notice it when you see the video at the bottom of the BeagleSword terminus page.
