The Monday Morning Memo

I Once Knew a Ponce Named Leon.

What did we do before we could “Google it?”

The other day I was listening to myself
when I heard myself say,

“That man is such a ponce.”

Ponce. Have you ever heard that word?

Aside from Ponce de Leon, I mean?

Me either.

I’m as certain as a dog can be

that I’ve never read the word or
heard it spoken but I knew exactly
what I meant when I said it:
“a man given to ostentatious or
effeminate display in manners,
speech and dress.”

I Googled it out of curiosity and
learned that my definition was, in fact,

precisely what “ponce” actually means.

Am I Making This Up?

YES       NO

“

In Luke 8:25 the disciples ask, ‘Who is this man, that even the winds and waves obey him?’
Allow me to answer their question. He’s the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. He’s the risen savior who has conquered death, hell and the grave. He is the author and finisher of our faith. He is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, who is and who was, and who is to come. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He is Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever!
