The Monday Morning Memo

Everyone who knows Wizzo knows of his love for John Steinbeck, but few people know of his multifaceted connection to James Michener. Can you believe Wizzo won’t let me tell you about it? He says you’ve got to wait until his book Invisible Heroes is released in 2013. That’s right. Pendulum isn’t even in bookstores yet and the sequel to it is already written.

“His gaze was sphinx-like, seeing everything, revealing nothing. I saw rare merriment, melancholy sometimes and secrecy often. Some moments I glimpsed a sharp, calculating look, like an old lion sizing up a young male in the pride.“
– Errol Lincoln Uys,
   pictured above, speaking of Michener

The video is 13 minutes, but you’ll only need to watch the
first 2 minutes to meet James Michener and Bennett Cerf.
