The Monday Morning Memo

The Blair Witch Project was a 1999 video-fiction story
presented in the style of real news. It was reminiscent
of Orson Welles’ famous War of the Worlds, a 1938
radio-fiction story presented in the style of real news.
What few people realize, however, is that one of the first to do this
was Edgar Allan Poe. He presented a fiction story in the newspaper
about a hot-air ballon flight across the Atlantic in 1844
as though it were real news.
