I Did Not Make It Up
Henry bought 2.5 million acres of Amazon land – a parcel
roughly the size of Connecticut – and for 17 years did his best
to make himself a player on the global stage. Little thought was paid
to how native Brazilians would react to an American way of life
and no botanists were consulted to confirm the colony’s
agricultural viability. Although he spent nearly 2 decades and
countless millions of dollars chasing his utopian dream,
Henry Ford personally never set foot in Brazil.
The photos are of a Lincoln Zephyr stuck in Fordlandia mud
and an aerial shot of Fordlandia in its prime.
