The Monday Morning Memo

When
Play That Funky Music, White Boy
hit the top of the charts in 1976, members of
a Mississippi chapter of the Ku Klux Klan complained that
“white boy” was a racial epithet and filed charges of
“reverse-discrimination.”

The municipal court decision in favor of the KKK
(rendered in Calhoun City) was overturned in
District Court in January of 1977.
