ROUND TWO
When a book falls into Montag’s arms in the opening chapter of
Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, Montag reads only a single line before stuffing it into his coat, “Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine.”
Unbeknownst to most people, this line is from Dreamthorp,
an essay written in 1863 by Alexander Smith.
