“Golly!” he said to me, “is that really true?”
“Yes. I know it’s true because I was there,” I told him.
His eyes got big as he squealed, “Will you please tell me more?”
I smiled even bigger, “Sit here in the saddle and I’ll tell you exactly what happened.”
I told him of the people who conquered the West.
I told him of their values and adventures, of their battles and victories.
We spoke of the beliefs that allowed these men and women to shape the greatest nation the world has ever seen.
When my story was fully told, he asked me to put it all in a book that he could share with his friends. So that is exactly what I’ve done.
My name is Golly
and I’m a horse, of course.
