The Monday Morning Memo

The rest of the gang calls him Alfie
but he answers to me as “Hitch.”
I got another friend named Alfie.

The BeagleSword was half a brain.
Wizzo cracked himself up
with that double entendre.
He even made the line red so you
wouldn’t miss it. Classy, huh?

The rabbit hole was organic chemistry.
“Carbon based, like pencil lead. Which
as you know isn’t really lead at all, but graphite.”

i’m not sure what Wizzo meant by that but
I’m guessing it’s another of his veiled
literary references. Humans are carbon-based
and so is literature. Sometimes the entendre
gets so deep around here I think I need a periscope.

“I nod to a passing stranger, and the stranger nods back, and two human beings go off, feeling a little less anonymous.”
