The Monday Morning Memo

ROUND TWO

This is an original promo poster from the publisher promoting a book about Don Quixote in 1896. Teddy Roosevelt was not yet president. The book became very famous. The artwork for the poster was done by Daniel Vierge, often called the father of modern illustration. (This particular copy was inscribed in ink by the author of the book, August F. Jacacci.)

On the same day the poster was auctioned for 40 dollars,
this 2006 Rose Bowl ring was auctioned for $123,900.
