There’s no one in here to chat with but I was able to look through the books beside the desk and read the unfinished letter that lies on top of it. The books were:
Norman Rockwell, Behind the Camera, by Ron Schick
E.W. Cooke, 1811-1880, by John Munday
Vivian Maier, A Photographer Found, by John Maloof
Caravaggio and His Followers in Rome, by David Franklin and Sebastian Schutze
The Decorative Carpet, Fine Handmade Rugs in Contemporary Interiors, by Alix G. Perrachon
The letter begins,
Dearest Michael,
I’m delighted beyond words to hear that you’re doing well in school and that you were elected captain of your Lacrosse team but I am afraid that I must regrettably decline your request for an increase in your monthly living expenses.
That’s all she’s written so far.
I’ll walk back into this painting in a day or two and see if she’s added anything to the letter.
I’ve got my suspicions about Michael but I hope I’m wrong.
We’ll see.
