The Monday Morning Memo

Beagle_Pottery_741

Douglas Arthur Teed

was born in 1863, the first year of the Civil War, and he died in 1929, the year the stock market
spanked our financial bottom. He painted this in 1926. I like it. It’s quiet in here.

The color palette of red, green, blue and yellow in hazy tones
makes this vision of pottery a little bit like looking at a rainbow in autumn.

Can you believe this painting failed to get a bid at auction a week ago?

If a man has any greatness in him, it comes to light, not in one flamboyant hour, but in the ledger of his daily work.
