I was beginning to think
that all red wine was just a variation on a theme, so I set out to find something new: different grapes, different styles of winemaking. Different assumptions, different outcomes.
The wine you’re hearing is Greek.
It’s called Zoe, a tree of life.
The grapes are 90% Aghiorghitiko
and 10% Cabernet.
I not going to give you a pretentious
“fruit forward with a hint of balsam” wine snob description. I’m a dog, remember? Dogs know how things really smell, but humans can’t relate to that. So I’m shooting for the common ground here; something we both do well: I’m going to tell you how this wine tastes musically.
Mostly high notes that twinkle… but with an ancient call underneath. No baritone or bass, nothing down deep. Calm but full of energy. Lighthearted and brokenhearted at the same time. Just like this song.
