The Monday Morning Memo

Third person, past tense, creates HISTORY + desire = wanting yesterday

Are you a musician? Do you have a talent for arrangement?

“Brian Played Guitar” is a demo by singer/songwriter Chuck Coleman.

I have been enchanted by the bare bones of this song for at least 15 years. The lyrics and the basic melodic structure are on point, but the song needs a rock voice, an accelerated tempo, and some added complexity in the instrumentation. In essence, it needs to collapse and rebuild, with different instruments moving in and out of the song so that it feels musically less predictable. The thing it does not need, however, is any alteration of the lyrics.

Are you up for it? If so, it’s time to strut your stuff! Send me your new arrangement of this song after you record it as best you can.

I think this song deserves to be famous and you do, too.
