The Monday Morning Memo

Don’t Compete. Cheat.

Competition is what happens when everyone agrees to play by the same set of rules. These rules always favor the biggest and strongest.

I work with clients who are neither the biggest nor the strongest so we never agree to the rules.  We do what favors the courageous and the determined. In other words, we cheat.

“Cheating” is a derogatory term invented by the big and the strong to discourage their smaller, weaker victims from inventing their own rules.

Defy the big and the strong. Invent your own set of rules. Goliath says you have to fight hand-to-hand. Those are the rules. If you sling stones from a distance he’ll say you cheated.

But Goliath didn’t say that, did he?
No, Goliath was dead.
