The Monday Morning Memo

Possibly the Most Challenging Job on Earth.

Can you write? Are you persuasive? Do people usually like you? Could you design classes, recruit instructors and gather adult students for an amazing adventure into the possible? Wizard Academy is a 501c3 educational organization – a school for the imaginative, the courageous and the ambitious. Many of the most brilliant and influential minds on earth come here as an escape, a retreat, a recharging of their intellectual batteries. Think of our 21-acre campus as a year-round summer camp for grown-ups. Your job is to make sure that everything always goes smoothly.

Wow. This is a very big job and managing the details is crucial. You won’t have a staff. You are the staff. Right now the job can pay you only $54,000/yr. and you’ll definitely put in more than 40 hours each week but you’ll also be hanging out with world-changers. How much is that worth?

Do you think you’re the person we need? Would you be willing to live in Austin, Texas? Tell us about yourself in a narrative letter of any length you choose. Prove that you can write. For extra credit, visit the website, create a class you feel we should offer, decide who you’d recruit to teach it, then write the course description you’d post to fill that class. The ball is in your court. What are you going to do?
