The Monday Morning Memo

This little tidbit comes to you from Rich Mann
who read a story by Tim Seppala
about the discovery of an emoticon by Levi Stahl
in this 1648 poem by Robert Herrick.

Stahl admits it might be coincidence,
but even if it is, it’s elegant.

And now here is a completely unrelated thought:

“There are two kinds of people in this world – those who
are always getting ready to do something, and those who
  go ahead and do it.“

– Elbert Hubbard

“I have been impressed with the urgency of doing.
Knowing is not enough; we must apply.
Being willing is not enough; we must do.”
 – Leonardo da Vinci

“So you know that thing you’ve been talking about?
Just shut up and do it.”

– Indiana Beagle

Bill Symons thinks you really need to watch this.
I agree.
And as you know, I am the
King of the Rabbit Hole.

Random Quote:

“The Magi know
There are three other people.

The Drifter,
Spun by wind and wave,
Helpless, says, ‘Whatever…’

The Drowner
Plays for sympathy. ‘It’s been
Just the worst week of my life.’

The Surfer
Scans the horizon, seeking forever
‘The next big thing.’

But the Magi
Follow the star.
Adjust the sails. Twist the rudder.

The Magi know.”

- Indiana Beagle
