Margaret,
Please tell Jane we are delighted with her work. She can begin making molds immediately. We have no changes to suggest.
I am especially pleased at the care she took in creating the presentation folder. I plan to frame the title page from the tattered copy of The Old Man and the Sea on which she drew the pencil sketch. That was a nice touch.
All but 2 of the necessary champions have stepped forward with $10,000 each. I have confidence the final two will step forward before we make our collective trek to Jane’s studio on March 29.
Corrine tells me that Jane mentioned she might be able to attend the unveiling of The Old Man on April 23. He’s to be the starting point at which all tours of the campus will begin. His position on our campus is layered with symbolic meaning.
Jane is a marvelous sculptor.
I believe she’ll be proud to see the old man
standing where he will speak for centuries to come.
Yours,
Roy H. Williams
