The Monday Morning Memo

Bryan Eisenberg, Kyle Caldwell, the Wizard and Jeffrey Eisenberg
at the dedication of The Laughlin Stone, October 4, 2013.

John uncrates the Laughlin Stone and squats near it, to give you perspective.
Laughlin is pronounced LOCK-lin, as in Lach Ness monster.

“Shortly after Calvin was born to Roy and Ellen Laughlin, Roy gave me a check for the academy and said that he wanted his son to have a corner somewhere on campus. ‘I want him to be able to come here in the future and know that he’s part of this place. You can call it Calvin’s Corner or whatever you want. I’ll leave that up to you.'”

“

When you’re a kid, the only thing your worst enemy has to do is find a word that rhymes with your name and you’re cooked. One time my friend’s nemesis called him ‘Michael Michael Motorcycle’ and he was messed up for days. It didn’t matter how cool motorcycles are. It rhymed. He was toast.
