You’ll find the story that Erik sent on the next page of this rabbit hole. I read it after Wizzo finished. It hit me in the chest like a basketball thrown at me when I wasn’t looking; I was stunned and gasping and my ribs ached. Erik is a great writer.

“The drill” of which Erik speaks is that Wizzo is notorious for not responding to emails. If you are his friend, you accept that he is probably not going to acknowledge your email. It’s just one of his many idiosyncrasies that make him a bit of a jackass. And when I say “jackass,” it’s with deep admiration and respect. I mean jackass in a good way. Just like when I call him butthead. – Indy

2: He and Connor Dixon are the cognoscenti who decided Wizard Academy should be equipped with every musical instrument known to man. Yes, this includes bagpipes. Students create ad hoc bands at night when they’re here for classes. Erik’s shadow is very long.
