The Monday Morning Memo

Symbols
are yet another type of portal,
triggering associative memories
unique to each individual.

A sign
has a specific meaning.
A symbol, however, does not.
The meaning of a symbol is rooted
in the experince of the individual.

A cannon
may be a symbol of adventure
(Peter Pan, Treasure Island, Swiss Family Robinson)
to one person and a symbol of violence
(WWI, WW2, Korea, Viet Nam)
to another.

The photo above
is my partner, Charlie Moger, with the cannon
he bought for the Wizard Academy campus.
He plans to deliver it when he comes for the reunion
in a couple of weeks. (We see it only as boyish adventure.)
