Floyd Collins

Floyd Collins was a Kentucky backwoods boy, who discovered Crystal Cave and turned it into a profitable commercial attraction. When the infamous Cave Wars started between Mammoth Cave and 17 other cave attractions in the area, Floyd Collins was part of it. In his attempts to outwit the other cave owners and discover a bigger, better cave, he discarded common sense; he went exploring without telling anyone where he was going.
