The Monday Morning Memo

Your Mama told me you’ve been troubled.
Your Mama told me you’ve been sad.
Your Mama told me you’ve been worried;
That things are lookin’ pretty bad.

I told your Mama not to worry.
I told your Mama not to cry.
I told your Mama we’d come through this.
We’re invincible, you and I.

She said to tell you that she loves you.
She said to tell you that she cares.
She said to tell you not to worry,
Because she’s talked to the man upstairs.

He told her that you’d come through this.
He told her that you’d be fine.
He told her the problem was no longer yours.
He told her the problem was mine.

So I took it on myself to solve this
And I decided what I’ll do
Is take your place in the middle of it all
And stand up and die for you.

But don’t let your heart be troubled.
Because I’ve got something to say.
I’ll come back three days later.
I’ll see you on Easter Day.

Random Quote:

“In a bombing run over Kassel, Germany, Elmer Bendiner’s B-17 bomber was barraged by 20-millimeter shells which resulted in direct hits on their gas tanks. But none of the shells exploded. The next day, the maintenance chief found 11 shells inside the gas tanks, any one of which should have taken the plane down.  When they opened the shells, all were empty, except one.  In it was a hand-written note scrawled in the Czech language. Upon translation, they found it said, ‘This is all we can do for you now . . . Using Jewish slave labor is never a good idea.’“

- Fall of the Fortresses, by Elmer Bendiner
