This is a replica of the Victoria, the only ship in Magellan’s fleet to make it back to Spain. The Concepcion, one of the two ships that may have carried our bell, was about this same size. The Trinidad, Magellan’s flagship, was 23 percent bigger:
110 tons versus 85 tons. I’m betting our bell was from the Trinidad, lost in a storm in the Philippines after being captured by Spain’s archrivals, the Portuguese.
