Loren Laddick Lewis, a Very Important Mentor
You can't get here unless you search for Afikoman
Just before I turned sixteen, my mom began dating Loren L. Lewis.
Perhaps you remember him from chapter 61 of my first book, The Wizard of Ads.
That chapter was called A Two-Peso Weather Report.
“Loren is known as a brilliant pool player, a wonderful storyteller, and a mechanical genius who has a weird, psychic bond with Cadillacs.”
They only dated for a couple of years, but Loren and I remain friends to this day.
Many of the things I like best about myself I owe directly to his influence.
Mom took this photo of Loren in February, 1975, more than 30 years ago.
I'm proud to be godfather to Loren's son, Joey.
