The Monday Morning Memo

Social media is but one tool in a comprehensive marketing strategy.
How you use it (and its potential for success) is based on your industry.

Two small businesses that are using Facebook successfully (fan pages, not ads) are WiseGrass (Paul Stoltzfus) and Grossman's Country Nursery in upstate NY.  Both companies realized that they would pull in a small but strong percentage of their customer base; they then used the social media space to educate their customers through multimedia efforts (a plus in the social media arena).  In essence, they are using it as a tool to give information away for FREE.  It builds customer loyalty and strong word-of-mouth.

Both businesses understand that this is but one small part of their overall strategy.  Any business that believes social media should encompass the entire campaign needs to have its head examined.  But used correctly, this tool can pack quite a whallop.

Looking forward to your MMM on this.

Best,
Michele Miller

Random Quote:

“

I think cities have weakened us as a species. Mistakes have no consequences, there. Step into the road without looking and the carriage merely stops or slows. The only consequence, an angry driver. But here, there can be no mistakes. Because here doesn’t care. The river doesn’t care if you can swim, the snake doesn’t care how much you love your children, and the wolf doesn’t care about your dreams. If you fail to beat the current, you will drown. If you get too close, you will be bitten. If you are too weak, you will be eaten.
