The spoken word lands softly on its feet like a cat that has fallen from a tree. The written word – as I proved in the rabbit hole and you have proven by your email – often lands with a thud and the crack of a fractured relationship.

I offended you by my comments in the rabbit hole. You offended me by your presumption that you had the right to scold me for it.

Are we even now?

And if so, was it worth it?

I have decided to overlook your scolding of me by email and promise never to mention it to you. I wrote this email only to ask you to make sure that I never have to do it again.
