“I was lucky enough to be a child
in a time of hope.”
– Carl Sagan,
the opening line of his essay,
Describing the World as It Is, Not as It Would Be,
written for The Washington Post, January 9, 1994
Carl Sagan was born on November 9, 1934.
This means he saw the rise of Adolph Hitler as a child
and his boyhood incuded all the atrocities of World War II.
And Carl was Jewish. This causes me to think that hope is not
contained in circumstances but in the hearts of the hopeful. – Indy
