The Monday Morning Memo

Hey Partners!
Thank you for all the email love the last few days! Well, this spring I got a new client. A doctor who was starting a brand new Pediatric Dental office, so going from 0 to 60 seemed like a bit of a challenge, but we did it! She has had 26+ years experience as a dentist and had worked at another office in town for 16 plus years before that office changed hands. Unfortunately in this situation she can’t just take her patients with her like you might think, so we had to get creaive…
The marketing budget wasn’t huge so my solution was to run a campaign for the 3-4 months much like a “missing persons” campaign. “Where Is Dr. Casey?” We placed a billboard within 2,000 feet of her old office with the campaign website, did a 50,000 postcard in the near by area for family homes and then we also paid a few college kids to canvas some summer swim meets with their brochures. We went from a brand new office around June 10th to last week realizing they are booked solid for two weeks out! (Which is pretty crazy for a dentist!) The coolest part is that the campaign has brought about 50% old patients and 50% new patients, so the long term growth looks really great!
My client and I are definitely excited about this success! I appreciate all of the support and excitement from you all too, so cool to work with such an awesome an encouraging group! 🙂

Random Quote:

“It was Hartzog who took a set of plans that had been lying dormant for fifteen years and built the great arch of St. Louis. Those who know the story of the arch say that had it not been for Hartzog there would be no arch. Hartzog the ranger is a hero in St. Louis, but at this moment he is not a hero to Tony Buford. ‘God damn it, George, this river is a mess. There is no point fishing this God-damned river, George. The fishing here is no good.’

Hartzog looks at Buford for a long moment, and the expression on his face indicates affectionate pity. He says, ‘Tony, fishing is always good.’ The essential difference between these friends is that Buford is an aggressive fisherman and Hartzog is a passive fisherman. Spread before Buford on the bow deck of his johnboat is an open, three-tiered tackle box that resembles the keyboard of a large theatre organ.”
