shel3 - The Monday Morning Memo

This is Shel number one. I usually call him Shellie.

“One of my current objectives is to be more present and to fully experience things. Like when doing dishes, to observe the sound of water whooshing out of the faucet, splashing on the dishes, tinkling on the stainless steel sink. And then I can feel the warm-hot soapy water on my hands and the textures of the blue Scotch-Brite sponge while breathing in the hints of clementine scented dish soap. It’s almost an exercise in ASMR.

I say this because I’ve been working on setting intentions and using them to optimize my workflows, And that has given me the freedom to find peace in many moments throughout the day.

And then I realized…

The biggest irony of all the tech like ChatGPT is that like the internet and cat videos, AI will give humans more potential and ability to live in the moment. But instead many will choose to scroll their lives away.

I can’t find the source, but there’s a joke about explaining to a visitor from the 1800s how we now have these devices in our pockets capable of accessing all the world’s collective knowledge. The visitor asks what we do with such power, and the response is “mostly watch cat videos and get into arguments with strangers”.”
