We were on the library floor of the new tower.
Dr. Lori Barr’s No Bull Branding class was looking
at the musical notes represented by the placement of
the iron newels in the balusters of the handrail that
wraps the overlook into the lecture hall below.
Mike Hayden said, “We should stretch guitar strings
vertically between each of the balusters and
tune them so that if you ran a finger across
the strings as you walked the full length
of the handrail, you’d hear the song.”
Everyone laughed; the sure sign of a brilliant idea.
“Let’s do it,” I said. “You’ll be in charge of
figuring out how much it will cost and of
raising the money to install it.”
That’s how we do it here.
Whoever makes the suggestion
is in charge of raising the money.
I’m pretty sure it will be the only
handrail like it in the world.
Wizard Academy
works very hard at
not borrowing money.
