You remember this image at the top of today’s Monday Morning Memo?
You probably noticed that the labels on the four characters stairstep from high on the left to low on the right.
But did you notice that:
INTELLECT is on the left side (his left,) of the Scarecrow’s HEAD,
HEART is in the Tin Man’s CHEST,
HOME is at Dorothy’s BREAST, and
COURAGE is in the Lion’s GUTS?
Even though this type of secondary symbolism usually falls below the level of the viewer’s consciousness, it helps the image to subliminally feel more elegant and “correct.” Or at least that’s Wizzo’s theory. – Indy
