The Monday Morning Memo

Remember the David Payne Candy Cane Christmas Train? This 3-minute video is about the wonderful home his 25-year-old daughter recently built from the ground up for $25,000. Prepare to be amazed.

Princess Pennie and I had been married for 10 years when we left Oklahoma 35 years ago, but Oklahoma never left us. Our clients, friends, and students from around the world have occasionally heard me speak of our pride in being from Oklahoma.

“Oklahomans are a remarkably resourceful people,” I tell them. “You can walk into any building in Oklahoma, randomly pick 6 adults, and they will, between them, have the skills to build a home from the ground up, repair a crashed airplane, and design a solution to overcome a problem no one has ever seen before. Oklahomans are never intimidated by what they don’t know how to do. They’ll figure it out.”

Random Quote:

“There will be a time when loud-mouthed, incompetent people seem to be getting the best of you. When that happens, you only have to be patient and wait for them to self destruct. It never fails.”
