The Monday Morning Memo

People who have visited the campus and seen its almost-finished tower often say, “Wow. It’s bigger than it looks in the photos.” This is because those balcony doors are 8 feet high, not the standard 6 feet, 8 inches, and that ground-level iron door is 12 feet tall and 9 feet wide.  Looking at the photos, your brain sizes the windows and doors to normal proportions and the building shrinks.

The grand opening will be April 23. Due to extremely limited parking, we’re going to have to restrict Opening Day to just those individuals who have donated at least $1,000 to help complete this wonder of all wonders. We still need a few people to step up. Will you consider it? Kristin and Becke are standing by to take your credit card number at 512-295-5700 and your name will be happily added to the guest list.

Speaking of names happily added…

Thank You to everyone who has raised a hand to say, “This is worth doing and I want to help do it.” Generations of business owners not yet born will read your names and be grateful for what you did.

Random Quote:

“No empire long endures, even if few anticipate their demise. Every kingdom is born to die. The 15th century belonged to the Portuguese, the 16th to Spain, 17th to the Dutch. France dominated the 18th and Britain the 19th. Bled white and left bankrupt by the Great War, the British maintained a pretense of domination as late as 1935, when the empire reached its greatest geographical extent. By then, of course, the torch had long passed into the hands of America.”
