The Monday Morning Memo

Do you have some Scottish roots we can expose?

The second thing we need to do is cement-and-flagstone the 300-foot approach to the tower. This is where Wizard Academy’s famous lifesize bronze monuments will be placed. But… the first 4 people who funded all that we’ve accomplished on the approach thus far have all been of Scottish extraction. We’ve grown rather fond of calling this The Scottish Approach to the tower.

So if you want to fund this for $20,000 and score your organization 2 miraculous days and 3 amazing nights at Wizard Academy learning whatever you’d like to know, well, you’re going to have to have a Scotsman somewhere. Or you can donate the dollars in honor of Robert Louis Stevenson of Treasure Island fame. He was Scottish. And he was awesome, just like you for doing this for us.

When you’re ready to begin your adventure for 14 (or less) people, contact Corrine Taylor at (512) 295-5700.

Random Quote:

“The seed of a future composition usually reveals itself suddenly, in the most unexpected fashion. If the soil is favourable – that is, if I am in the mood for work, this seed takes root with inconceivable strength and speed, bursts through the soil, puts out roots, leaves, twigs, and finally flowers: I cannot define the creative process except through this metaphor. All the difficulties lie in this: that the seed should appear, and that it should find itself in favourable cicumstances. All the rest happens of its own accord. It would be futile for me to try and express to you in words the boundless bliss of that feeling which envelopes you when the main idea has appeared, and when it begins to take definite forms. You forget everything, you are almost insane, everything inside you trembles and writhes, you scarcely manage to set down sketches, one idea presses upon another.”

- Pyotr Ilich Tchaikovsky (1840 – 1893)
