The Monday Morning Memo

Ads that don’t sound like ads are extremely effective. Dave Nevland and Jacob Harrison – longtime Wizard of Ads partners – are famous for creating “pattern interrupt” ads that can be inserted into established ad campaigns to create a new, surprising, and different way to reinforce messages already established by the main campaign. The wizard has had the “Two Dudes”  create ads to be inserted into many of his most famous ad campaigns. Listeners are always surprised and delighted. Notice how you are not being talked at, or talked to, but you are eavesdropping on a conversation between two friends who are walking down a sidewalk. This type of informal banter is extremely difficult to write, and even more difficult to record. These two are perhaps the best there has ever been. – Indy Beagle

Random Quote:

“If you came to a shaman or medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions. When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop finding comfort in the sweet territory of silence? Where we have stopped dancing, singing, being enchanted by stories, or finding comfort in silence is where we have experienced the loss of soul. Dancing, singing, storytelling, and silence are the four universal healing salves.”
