Season 1, episode 11
Okay, this is a weird one.
Likya Podalia is from Turkey
and it’s 60% Kalecik Karasi
which grows only in Turkey,
definitely an obscure grape,
but when I tasted it, I was
transported far south of the
Rio Grande into the Yucatan
province of Mexico.
Most people would have thought
the first note was a saxophone,
but I knew it was muted trumpet.
Dogs have very good hearing, you know.
After several minutes
of catching its breath, this wine brought in a pair of guitars. The music below is the closest I could find on YouTube, but the tune I heard when I tasted this wine had a sexy, second guitar playing a countermelody, dark and low. Who would have thought?
Turkish wine can be very good.
