The Scotsman and the Golf Course
Chad Prosser, one of my favorite people, asked me to write an ad for his golf resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
As I was writing, I realized it had been far too long since I'd spoken to Tom McDowall, my favorite Scotsman. I gave Tom a call and he came over to see all the progress we'd made on campus. Two bottles of wine later he agreed to record the ad for me.

ANNOUNCER IN LARGE ROOM: And the 2007 Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course of the Year is … Wachesaw Plantation East!
SCOTTISH VOICE: When the Golf Course Owners Association gave us that award, it was the climax of a dream that began when famed architect Williard Byrd took Clyde Johnston under his wing to teach him golf course design. That was when Wachesaw Plantation East was born. If you want to play a magical course, this is the one. It’s a Scottish golf course and a fine one, too. Now you and I both know word-of-mouth is the best advertising. You live here and you’re local and you have a lot of influence. That’s why I want you to play. And it’s why I’m going to let you do it for just a wee bit o’pocket change. Call 357-52-52 and tell’em you want the Scotsman’s package, because no self-respectin’ Scotsman ever pays full price. Golf Digest has us listed in their Places to Play and we’ve hosted four, nationally-televised tour events. Call Wachesaw Plantation East at 357-52-52 and tell’em you want the Scotsman’s package. Do it now, before all the tee times are gone. 357-52-52… 357-52-52.
