The Monday Morning Memo

“Qi rides the wind and scatters, but is retained when encountering water.”
– Guo Pu,
during the Jin Dynasty (265-420)
in the Zhangshu
(Book of Burial.)
This line is the origin of Feng Shui.

By the way, did you notice the crucifixion portrayed in the photo of James Dean on the previous page? Back-click and see Mary at the feet of Jesus.

Did you watch the 2-minute video clip of East of Eden on the previous page? In the book that inspired the movie, Steinbeck intended Cal Trask, played by James Dean, to represent Cain from the book of Genesis, and Aron Trask, played by Richard Davalos, to represent his brother Abel. Their mother is a prostitute, representing all the lower impulses of mankind, and their father is a self-righteous prig, representing perhaps, the demands of hollow religion.

prig – noun – one who offends or irritates by observance of proprieties (as of speech or manners) in a pointed manner or to an obnoxious degree

“So Cain went out from the LORD's presence and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden.”
– Genesis
chapter 4, verse 16
