The Monday Morning Memo

I love thick novels and biographies
Getting lost in a good story.
Spending time in nature.
Deep conversations with good friends.

I love rock-climbing with my daughters,
Hiking and running and camping.
I love being forgiven
And being married to my best friend.

I love traveling and seeing new places.
People-watching in airports
And immigration queues
When I choose wisely.

I love being a multi-cultural family,
With its richness and history and complexity and fun.
I love finding out that I was wrong in judging
The person that I judged.

I love life and how love kills fear.
It is a strong weapon against death.
I love spending time with weirdos and misfits
And oddballs like me.

“‘I never much liked the car business,’ Mr. Worthington said in 2007. ‘I just kind of got trapped in it after the war. I didn’t have the skills to do anything else. I just wanted to fly.'”

- Cal Worthington, America's most famous car dealer. "Keen on becoming a pilot, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and flew B-17 Flying Fortresses on 29 bombing missions over Germany. He left the military with the rank of captain, a Distinguished Flying Cross and hopes of becoming a commercial pilot, but lack of a college degree disqualified him." - The New York Times, Sept. 9, 2013. Cal Worthington's obituary.
